Great British Bartie Bristle
2012 Edition |
|
This year sees Bartie Ventures introducing the sixth in their series of annual edition Bartie Bristle bears. Made by hand and using the finest pale gold curly alpaca, Great British Bartie truly represents our nation during a year when there is so much to celebrate and commemorate.
As with all the annual editions, this little bear has black glass eyes, a hand stitched nose with claw, head and tummy stitch detail. His paws are red and his foot pads are dark blue with the Bear It In Mind logo on one and the year and issue number on the other. He also arrives with you sporting a genuine old threepenny bit on a charming Union Jack styled ribbon and with his certificate of authenticity.
Following the successful introduction of the Workshop Womins during 2011, we are also thrilled to announce that Great British Bartie will be accompanied by his very own matching Womin. Womins are formed when materials used during the production or restoration of a teddy bear collect in the corners of the studio and are left to their own devices. They are very friendly, a little mischievous and delightful companions for your favourite bear.
Great British Bartie Bristle costs £95.00inc VAT with an additional charge of £7.00 should you require postage. |

|
The Womins are mischievous little creatures who live with their families in the corners of our studio. Womins appear when all the bits of fluff, fur and thread fall to the floor during bear making and workshops.
They are always looking to play tricks on Bartie Bristle and the other bears. Their favourite game is Teddy Bear Bowls because Womins are the perfect shape to launch themselves at unsuspecting bears just to knock them over!
A regular supply of cake and biscuit crumbs will keep them happy but remember they really don't like honey!
WARNING..... Never leave your Womin on the floor. |

2011 EDITION
Solent Bartie Bristle |
With four previous incarnations of Bartie Bristle under their belts, Julie and Amanda are very pleased to introduce their latest creation, Solent Bartie.
This bear has been inspired by the beautiful coastline and sea just a stone’s throw from the New Forest and their studio at Bear It In Mind in Beaulieu.
This is the first Bartie to have a separate chest panel which, along with the inside of his ears, is made from sparse, bristly, sand coloured Schulte mohair and represents the local beaches. The rest of his body is made using a slightly thicker and longer Schulte mohair in a beautiful shade of ‘eau de nil’. Both colours contrast to suggest the sea meeting the sand.
Solent Bartie has teal ultrasuede paw pads with sand coloured claw stitching. He has sand coloured stitch highlights over his teal stitched nose and the detailing over his head and tummy are also in teal. The whole nautical theme is made complete by the addition of his necklace made of shiny pebbles and a boat bead.
As in previous years, Solent Bartie comes to you with a certificate of authenticity. His issue number and year are embroidered on his foot pad and he is available for £85.00 + pp.

Hi All... above is a photo of us with Bunny Campione who visited Bear It In Mind for a 'tour' of our premises and business! - Love Julie xx
"I was impressed with your work at the shop, and all your wonderful new animals and Teddy Bears. There are precious few dedicated people who can make them really well, and of course the bears that have been loved really do need tender loving care in restoration and patching.
Wishing you luck with your next venture, and of course I should love to see your first children's book - I could read it to my grandchildren!
Your details have been handed to the BBC Antiques Roadshow Team in case anyone wants to have their Teddy Bear restored."

Last year we raised funds for Children in Need by making a teddy bear and human chain down one side of Beaulieu High Street. With traders and parents from the village school contributing in other ways throughout the afternoon, we were able to send just over £600 to this worthy cause.
Yes, you've guessed it! We are going to do it all again this year. The date is Saturday 13th November and the time, 1.30pm. This year we are hoping to create a chain so long that it reaches up the other side of the High Street as well.
Registration will start at 1pm in Bear It In Mind with the 'link up' hopefully at 2pm. If anyone is able to help, join in, offer further ideas, please do contact me at the shop. I look forward to hearing from you.
